same project except with a sculptural piece, blanket made after Tracey Emin, mix of monoprinting and drawing on each patch. everything was hand sewn. the theme throughout the blanket is the weight of compassion and the specifically the heaviness of family and it’s expectations. one thing in this that i’d like to explore again is the theme of mother and daughter and how the roles of both are essentially reversed when in a situation where one parent is lacking.
this project was from my foundation year 2010/2011, we had to write an essay about an artist who inspired you and make it in the style of theirs. i chose Tracey Emin. i am completely detached from all my work from this year and i like to think i have moved on a great deal, but still i think it’s good to share all efforts and it might be interesting to someone.
